Stitch of Prayer. . .Heart of Care
What is Stitch of Prayer. . .Heart of Care?
We are a prayer ministry that combines the gift of a hand-tied quilt with the gift of prayer for somebody with a serious or life threatening illness. Each knot tied into the quilt represents a prayer that was offered specifically for the person who receives the quilt.
So, how does it work?
First of all, a person (a quilt "sponsor" recognizes that a need for prayer in somebody's (the recipient) life, makes sure that the recipient would welcome prayer, and then requests a quilt. Once the request is made, quilt ministry volunteers go to work on the prayer quilt. Once the quilt is sewn, we put ties into it. A prayer for the recipients special need is offered with each knot tied. We then give the quilt to the sponsor, who in turn gives it to the recipient. The quilts are a statement of our faith, a testimony to our belief in God and in the power of prayer.
How can I get involved?
We can always use volunteers. God is blessing so many through this ministry. If you think God is calling you to be a part of this ministry, we would love to have you join us. You don't need to be experienced in quilting. Just call and we will tell you how you can join us to make a difference in the lives of others. If sewing isn't "you thing", you can help in other ways. The most important way to help, however is to get involved in praying for the people in need.
